PIA CEO Unveils Major Plans for 2025

Bilal AhmedBy Bilal AhmedDecember 30, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Acting CEO Khurram Mushtaq has announced plans to reinstate several grounded aircraft into service starting next year. The airline aims to reactivate Boeing 777 and Airbus aircraft within the next six months, bringing the total number of operational planes to 24.

Currently, out of PIA’s fleet of 34 aircraft, only 16 are operational. However, in the past three weeks, PIA’s team successfully reactivated three aircraft, including a Boeing 777, an Airbus 320, and an ATR, increasing the active fleet to 19.

    Plans for 2025

Khurram Mushtaq revealed that the Boeing 777 will be deployed for operations in European countries, while preparations for the 2025 Hajj operations are being fast-tracked. He emphasized that the airline’s goal is to have all 34 aircraft in service by the end of the year, which is expected to significantly boost revenue.

In addition to fleet expansion, PIA has approved a 25% salary increase for its employees. Despite challenging economic conditions in the country, PIA continues to make progress, with the addition of two new aircraft to its operational fleet last year.

    New commercial flights

PIA spokesman Abdullah Hafeez Khan highlighted the government’s support for the airline, noting that a new Airbus 320, which recently arrived, has already begun commercial flights. The aircraft completed its first commercial flight as PK-309 from Islamabad to Karachi.
